HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 23
(By Mr. Speaker, Mr. Kiss, and Delegates
Frederick, Fletcher and J. Smith)
Proclaiming the week of February 21, 1999, "West Virginia
Engineers Week."
Whereas, Engineering is the nation's second largest
profession, and the West Virginia House of Delegates deems it
appropriate to acknowledge their commitments and accomplishments
in our State; and
Whereas, Engineers are faced with major technical challenges,
from the rebuilding of cities and towns that have been hit by
natural disasters to designing information systems and equipment
that will improve the quality of our everyday lives; and
Whereas, Engineers are role models for today's youth as this
profession encourages our students to excel in the fields of
math and science; and
Whereas, The engineering profession will play a major role
in propelling not only the State of West Virginia, but the
nation as a whole into the next millennium; therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Delegates:
That the West Virginia House of Delegates recognizes the
knowledge and commitment of West Virginia's engineering professionals; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the House of Delegates join the
Governor of the Great State of West Virginia in declaring the
week of February 21, 1999, "West Virginia Engineers Week"; and,
be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates
is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the
appropriate representatives of the engineers profession of West
Virginia.
